How does the UFC determine who will get an invitation to fight?

In the reality tv series The ultimate fighter, how does the ufc determine who will be selected from the ones that didn’t win in the show. For example, why did Matthew Riddle, Dante Rivera, Matt Brown, Credeur, and Yarbrough get selected and not the others? thanks
BUSINESS LOANS BANKS ARE SAYING NO, We CAN SAY YES! Get up to $100K

One word, RATINGS. I wish there was a more unbiased way to set match ups.
